| The life in the valley of
Bagnes appeared unchangeable, however the population will know a revival,
from the 19th century, with the appearance of the tourism an the come
of a foreign clientele attracted by the climbing. From then on, the winter sports developed as well as the open air activities, the valley of Bagnes and more particularly the station of Verbier becames high places of holiday resorts welcoming tourists from all over the world. Quelques dates : 1818 : The debacle of the glacier of Giétroz 1857 : First ascent official of the "Grand-Combin" 1948 : The society of ski topspin of Verbier tempts a first attempt of funiluge. (Sled towed by a cable) 1951 : creation of the first lift (Médran-les Ruinettes). |
